Concert in Honor of Patricia L. Beckler

Our holiday concert features a special duo performance for violin and cello of a sonata by French-Guadalupen composer Joseph Boulogne de Saint-George plus French solo works for harpsichord, viola da gamba, an Italian lute solo, a Christmas lullaby for voice and lute, and recorder variations on a Dutch nativity tune.

Our concert features a duet for viols by Monsieur de Sainte Colombe written for his concerts at home, songs from Barbara Strozzi’s Accademia degli Unisoni musical salons, and pieces written for amateur musicians by Boismortier, Telemann and Abel.

Broadside Ballads

Scholar, Sarah Williams traces the tune “Cold and Raw” from the Broadside Ballads through d’Urfey to Purcell, plus music for solo harpsichord, solo recorder, and ensemble pieces based on tunes from Playford’s The Dancing Master.
